The family of three arrived on a rainy night. Their arrival was full of confusion and fear, followed by relief as they realized they were safe in their new home with caring people to support them. Reem, Khaled, and Elin were New Start Ministry CT's first family.
During their first year, we celebrated birthdays and even their wedding with them, along with all their accomplishments, big and small.
Over the years since then, they've accomplished everything from learning English and gaining employment to having two more children and buying a house. They have also helped New Start Ministry CT welcome other refugee and evacuee families into the community.
On August 18th, 2022, New Start Ministry CT was overjoyed to learn that Reem has reached another milestone in the family's journey - she became an American citizen. Congratultions, Reem!
